The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 provide recommendations for making Web content more accessible. All WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria are written as testable criteria for objectively determining if content satisfies them. Testing the Success Criteria would involve a combination of automated testing and human evaluation. The content should be tested by those who understand how people with different types of disabilities use the Web. WCAG 2.1 uses the same conformance model as WCAG 2.0 with a couple additions, which is described in the Conformance section. It is intended that sites that conform to WCAG 2.1 also conform to WCAG 2.0, which means they meet the requirements of any policies that reference WCAG 2.0, while also better meeting the needs of users on the current Web. This difference between WCAG 2.0 and WCAG 2.1 mainly has to do with navigation menus. Remember that many users navigate websites using a keyboard, which allows them to click between links. This means, if your navigation menus are only viewable when you hover over them with a mouse, and disappear otherwise, your site will not be usable to anyone not using a mouse. WCAG 2.0 had 61 success criteria WCAG 2.1 introduced 17 more success criteria to address mobile accessibility, people with low vision, and people with cognitive and learning disabilities. WCAG 2.2 will be expanding on 2.1 with nine new success criteria, plus an update to one, with the goal of making content more accessible to a wider range of users.
